I expect this to be a very quiet forum since DFB is quite simple, but if you have any questions or suggestions I am here to help.

I really like the Digital fake book. Is there any way to have an auto scroll feature for the lyrics? Just wondering?

You mean so you can have the words larger than the screen, like an auto-cue? That's a different mode of operation to the way DFB keeps the whole song on the screen at once. How would you anticipate that working? I assume you would do something like set a scroll speed and press a key to start the scrolling?

I was thinking more like a Karaoke moving cursor with the words the same size and allow the page to scroll as the cursor nears the bottom of the page. Just a thought. I like having all my songs so easily accessible.

Thanks

The problem is that there is nothing to sync the song position to, so the only thing that could be done would be a constant speed scroll. I'm not sure that would be a significant benefit above just having the whole song on the screen at once.

Anyway, I'll add it to the feature request list so I can mull over how to implement it without impacting other functionality.

Great

1 : the Possibility to change Fonts, "Fonts Color Change option" is very important since the Verse must be in a different color to be clearly seen. A right Click and Change Font would be great if implementable
2 : The Possibility to create a new song without the Page divided in 2 Since the songs lyrics are mostly needed on one page to be viewable clearly
3 : You Only have a Mp3 Graphical representation of the Media files supported even though i clearly tried and tested a midi file and it works great. i Guess you must use The Windows media player, a midi file player would be best since you can transpose midi files and Kar files

i guess that's enough for one night since i bet this piece of soft can be the ultimate Power reader if you have the time and the will to implement the needed changes for the entertainment industry.

Number one is already in the ToDo list, but requires significant changes under the hood to implement, so I haven't had time to do it yet.

Is number 2 not achievable by dragging the divider all the way to the right, or have I misunderstood what you're suggesting?

I play media files using DrectShow. It's even possible (but not supported) to link a video file. The DirectShow support for MIDI files is very limited. Once I start getting into being able to edit MIDI files – things like muting parts – this would become a proper music program, of which there are many better programs around.

Thanks for the ideas, Alex. :)

I have been working professionally on the improvement of many programs (Yamaha Music, Digidesign, Korg PA800 etc…) and believe me , your program is one of the most used in the entertainment industry as we speak since it offers what is needed to the entertainer who just needs to be able to read lyrics and music sheets on his PC without all the whistles and fireworks of the other programs, so No, there are NOT many better programs around, you could go commercial if you add a little touch to it.

Thanx a lot for what you have done so far

and for number 2, i meant a new song page without divider

I definitely do not want to go commercial. I just don't have the time. DFB is just a little thing I wrote for myself that I'm happy to share.

I'm still not getting how removing the divider is any different than just grabbing it and moving it all the way to the right. Do you mean you still want 2 columns, but no divider between them?

Dear Mike

I meant that the user will have the option once he hits the new song button to have a 1 page undivided or a 1 page divided since the fact is that the divider is rarely used for the entertainers i know and dragging it to the right is a nag.
That s not very important anyhow, the most important is to be able to import a jpg or a bmp file into the sheet so the user can scan the music sheet and read it with your soft

regards

alex :)

Okay, that would be easy to implement. I'll put it on the list.

That one is already on the list. :)

when using this in a band setting, (multiple systems running at same time), the ability to buid a set list and load all songs into one computer, then export the entire set list so it can be loaded into the other systems would be nice, with options not to overwrite existing songs! without having to export each song individualy

That's a good idea. I have enhancments to the export/import system planned and this could be part of that. I'l make sure it's on the ToDo list.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for a truly useful program. I was introduced to it by a friend, and will start using it tonight (along with Pianoteq, so the laptop has to be there).

I have a few questions/suggestions, if you don't mind.

1.1. I too have the font change request: the font is quite bold and my laptop display makes it difficult to read bold from the distance I have to use: a, e, o are sometimes difficult to distinguish at speed, for example.

1.2. Being able to use different colours & weights within a song would also help: it makes seeing where the chorus/bridge is much easier, since they are all over the place with the songs I play.

2. I will be soldering a foot switch, but could you implement a "previous song" trigger as well? I lead worship at Church, and sometimes we alternate choruses between two songs at the same tempo and in the same key.

3. A more full-screen option than the Windowed Mode would help gain a few more lines. I.e., not displaying the URL at the bottom, nor the Songs, Save, … buttons at the top. Pressing Alt could open up the top menu again, for example.

I believe these would be very useful additions from a performance aspect.

Thanks again for a stunningly useful program!

An update:

My Windows 7 Pro installation did not include the Bitstream Vera fonts (I thought it did), hence the Courier New rendering. Vera is more readable, but still too bold.

Hi John,

Those are good suggestions. I'll add them to the list. thanks.

It seems odd to me that the font didn't install. There were problems with the font using the old installer but the last release installed the font fine on every Win7 machine I tried.

Hi Mike!
Really great program. Is there a possibility for unicode font support (utf-8 croatian)? Many of my songs are displayed incorrectly.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, the development language I use for DFB (Delphi 7) is not unicode aware. I have plans of converting it to another environment at some stage, but that is a lot of work and I just don't have the time at the moment.

Strange because the letters (Š;Ž;?) are displayed correctly, problem is only with letters (?;?). Thanks for a quick answer.
Regards.
